Summary
Optis' flagship HR SaaS product, a web application helping enterprise companies manage employee leave, workers compensation, and disability claims while complying with state and federal laws, with a KPI dashboard and complex compliance forms.
The Challenge
Optis needed to modernize their core platform, LeaveXpert, a ten-year-old system for managing employee leave, workers compensation, workplace accidents, and short- and long-term disability claims. The existing codebase needed new coding skills and methodologies, a revamped UX/UI, and a structured foundation for future development.
The Solution
Designed and developed all of the front-end and much of the backend business logic for the web application. Organized the UX/UI and set up fundamental pages for user security, administration, and management. Trained four additional developers on coding features following the established architecture. Built a KPI dashboard and complex compliance input forms.
The Results
Optis gained a modernized flagship product with a clean architecture, improved UX, and a KPI dashboard giving HR administrators immediate visibility into leave cases. The application and two additional applications built from the same framework have scaled well over the years and continue to generate revenue.

We hired Joe Wilson as a consultant to work on the creation of the flagship product called LeaveXpert. He designed and developed all of the the front-end and much of the backend business logic for the web application. He trained 4 other developers on coding additional features following his architecture and getting them up and running in a few weeks. He was very patient and communicated very well with everyone in the company from the developers to the product owners and CEO.
Joe made some very positive changes to Optis by bringing in a lot of current technology and great coding practices. This allowed Optis to build their main application as well as two additional applications off the same framework. All these applications have scaled very well over the years are still generating revenue. I would highly recommend Joe and Volare Software.
